Ladies in White The failure of Cuba, upcoming talk
Talk from Ladies in White member, Dr HS Gonzales regarding the decline of Cuba, the daily oppression faced by the Ladies in White and the rise of the 'Cuban Spring' which has seen widespread protest in Havana against the current goverment and repeated calls for Democracy.
On the day that it was announced Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, peace activist Leyma Gbowee from the same African country and democracy activist Tawakkul Karman of Yemen had been jointly awarded the Nobel Peace prize a Liverpool human rights group has announced a series of talks from Cuban Dr HS Gonzales. A cousin of Oscar Elias Biscet, Dr Gonzales has been active in Human Rights work since 2003 when she managed to escape the Castro regime by rowing to Florida with her brother and father.
This is the first public talk from Dr Gonzales who has been moved to tell the British public about the rising tide of human rights abuses in Cuba and the violent oppression of the Ladies in White movement.
The talk being held at "Next To Nowhere" / Liverpool Social Centre on Saturday 22nd of October at 7pm.
