This week's show features stories from NHK World Radio Japan, China Radio International, Radio Deutsche-Welle, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From JAPAN- Last weekend saw anti-nuclear rallies at 15 nuclear power plants across the United States, inspired by the catastrophe in Fukushima. For the first time the size of the hole in the ozone layer over the Arctic is nearly as large as the one over the Antarctic.
From CHINA- There is concern over a US Senate bill that would impose duties on countries deemed as undervaluing their currency. A report on the demonstration in Manchester England over the austerity measures including pension cuts and sales tax increases.
From GERMANY- At the Manchester Conservative Conference protested in the last story, Tory leaders expressed their conservative beliefs. NATO ministers say that they will stay on in Libya for as long as they think is necessary.
From CUBA-- China and Russia vetoed a UN Security Council condemnation of the Syrian crackdown on protestors. The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt told the US to stop interfering in their national affairs. Palestinian President Abbas is touring Europe and Latin America to drum up support for the statehood request at the UN. The wife of Renee Gonzalez, one of the Cuban 5, warned about the dangers he faces upon release from jail in the US this week.
From RUSSIA- The US murder of a US citizen and terrorist in Yemen raises many questions- as does the extensive use of drones and Obama's continuation of the Bush junior war policy.

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at  http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
NEW TIME SLOT on KZYX! This program will be aired on Sunday afternoon at 4pm (PDST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via
There are several other streams that work better- Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am.(PDST)
NEWLY CORRECTED!!! The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from (27 MB) HIGHEST QUALITY
(16MB) Broadcast Quality
(6MB) Slow Modem streaming
