Muslims Against Crusades demonstrated at the American Embassy in London on a 9/11 memorial. The English Defence League counter protested MAC. Clashes between the EDL and Muslim youth led to two stabbings of EDL members outside a JD Whetherspoons on Edgeware Road. There were clashes in Hyde Park, Marble Arch and Oxford Street between the EDL and MAC.

Two men were seriously hurt when they were stabbed in clashes between the English Defence League and Muslim protesters after a 9/11 memorial service in London. The two men are thought to have been on OPPOSING sides during a pitched battle outside a pub in Edgware Road last night.
The groups staged rival protests outside the American Embassy in Grosvenor Square during a minute's silence to mark the moment when the first hijacked plane hit New York's World Trade Center 10 years ago. About 100 activists from radical Islamist groups including Muslims Against Crusades set fire to a US flag while others shouted slogans including "USA terrorists". Sixty members of the far-Right group staged a counter demonstration and both groups then took part in an unplanned 90-minute march along Park Lane and Edgware Road to Regent's Park Mosque. A fight broke out outside the Tyburn pub in Edgware Road in which the two men were stabbed. More than 40 people were arrested during the day, 13 of them in connection with assaults during the brawl at about 6pm.
An eyewitness, who did not wish to be named, said: "There was a group of EDL guys drinking outside the pub when a large group of Muslims walked past. The EDL started hurling RACIST ABUSE at the Muslims who took offence. They got angry and were yelling back. Then the EDL guys picked up pub furniture and started throwing glasses and chairs and tables at the group in the street. It was chaos. At first it was just 10 EDL guys but that number quickly swelled to about 50 people. The police were on the scene really quickly. They separated the groups and just started arresting people."
Earlier radical Islamists, including hate preacher Anjem Choudary, gathered in Grosvenor Square as families of British 9/11 victims prepared for a remembrance ceremony in the September 11 memorial garden. A smaller group of Muslims staged a counter-demonstration nearby, holding up placards reading "Muslims Against Extremism" and "If You Want Sharia, Move To Saudi".

Similar alleged misdirection before the EDL Tower Hamlets debacle was (if it was really ever planned misdirection in the first place) so cunning that it successfully led dozens of EDL supporters into the arms of waiting cops at Euston Station, and hundreds of EDL into a TSG kettle at Kings Cross, and didn't help the smaller EDL group to evade police kettling at Liverpool Street station either.
Since the police reserved a place for the EDL to protest on Sept 11 anyway and therefore had no intention of stopping EDL travelling to the protest site in the 1st place, and since the EDL were (by their Facebook statement's own admission) recognised by the cops the instant they arrived at the US Embassy anyway, again the EDL's cunning plan achieved nothing except to reduce EDL numbers when they actually needed them. Put it this way - if the police lose 20 officers to keep an eye on a few knob 'eads outside Bond Street the cops still have potentially unlimited reinforcements, but if the EDL lose 20 of their guys to one of Jeff Marsh's brainwaves then in this case that flushed a whopping 25% of their actual manpower!!!
Reason for posting this is to point out to EDL grunts that despite all his bluster about being a "Ninja" etc, Jeff "Own Goal" Marsh and the other geniuses are totally fucking hopeless and delusional as actual leaders. Moral of the story for Anti-Fascists is that the EDL are starting to try and box clever - they're still shit at it mind you, but in future we'll need more roving spotters.

Giving the cops the right to determine where a protest will be held, and how it will be held is the easiest way to render protest as totally ineffective. The police intervention should come only once a crime is alleged to have taken place.
We have seen what happens when the police are called on to ban marches, with the calls for the EDL march to be banned leading to a ban on marching in 6 boroughs for 30 days.
As the protester whose threatened legal action resulted in the ban being lifted in 4 of the boroughs stated:
“It is deeply concerning that the police and the Home Secretary attempted to use the funeral of an innocent
man, who died at the hands of state agents, to prevent legitimate protests taking place. Further, it makes no
sense as the ban covered a completely different geographical area. This is yet another example of the lack
of transparency we face when dealing with the police, and shows that we must challenge their decisions to
ensure accountability.”
