Obviously, you'd have insurance (legal requirement is minimum 3rd party fire theft), so can't understand why you'd need donations?

How much do you think they're gonna get for a (I'm assuming) fairly beaten up old landy AFTER it's been gutted by fire. They'll get piss all and those things aren't cheap. Rather than making stupid fucking jibes maybe you should show a little solidarity and give the poor fuckers £20.

bollox.... when my car was stolen, i got what it was worth. If you think insurance companies would get away with paying out "fuck all" and no one notices and that there isn't some kind of massive consumer investigation, then you are naive.

more likely they aint got insurance in first place

which means they were driving around, and if they hit some poor fucker who was paralysed, they'd get fuck all compensation because these guys were too tight arse to get insurance.

Surely they are going to have insurance as they are more than likely going to get stopped by the cops on a regular basis! It's probably the case that the market value of the burnt out vehicle is next to nowt and they need to replace it with something half decent for reliability.

Wow, you're right, I made inferences from the tone of your argument and applied those to my real world experience of said argument, what a fool. Or is that called reading between the lines? Do you support animal rights, cause your naked aggression towards these people's appeal for help suggests to me that you probably don't.

Besides you just did exactly what you accused me of, ignored the bulk of my argument, as I clearly said, Black Adder's post describes perfectly the insurance situation when claiming on old, damaged vehicles and also deals with your slanderous accusations about being uninsured. But it does also make you look like a dick so maybe it's best to ignore it...

You've clearly never had a vehicle damaged/stolen before. Insurance companies don't pay out what you paid for the vehicle, they pay out what they deem it to be worth. They usually deliberately underestimate by a few hundred pounds to save themselves a bit of cash, thus you're left with a deficit when buying a replacement vehicle which you have to cover yourself.

For instance you might pay £2-3k for a landy because that's what they sell for at the moment, however the insurance company will then take note of the age and the mileage and knock a few hundred possibly even a thousand off what they deem it to be worth when paying out.

I see it happen all the time to people.

So to answer the stupidest question of all time - YES, we did have insurance, and we didn't go around doing hit and runs on grannies.

And no, we won't get the actual value of our van, and won't get enough to but another one - we're expecting £1,500 from the insurance so need to raise about £1,500 ASAP.

Basically, PISS OFF and try and doing something half decent rather than have a go at people who spend their free time, money & energy standing up to evil bastards that enjoy tearing animals apart.

Words mean nothing - actions are everything.
