Comedian Mark Thomas Turning Conflict Into Comedy In Palestine

Friday Drivetime | 08.09.2011 17:08 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Palestine

Former TV comedian Mark Thomas is down at the Tobacco Factory from Monday to Saturday as part of a national tour with his usual biting satire and his new show about rambling in the Israeli Palestinian War Zone. Friday Drivetime's Tony Gosling spoke to Mark about his ramble round the Palestine wall and marvelled at his ability to turn conflict into comedy.....

The Walking the Wall tour.

Mark is finishing up the tour with 6 nights in Bristol and then a final few dates up and down the country, finishing up in Aberystwyth on 29th Sebtember. If you haven't seen the show do try and catch one of the remaining performances.

There will be a film of the show and a documentary film of the ramble. A preview of the latter can be found at the Roast Beef Productions website here.

Here is a wee photo gallery from the tour so far along with some photos of Mark's ramble in the West Bank. If you have any photos please send them in to  info@markthomasinfo.co.uk and we'll add them to the gallery.

So, paid to educate people then? I don't see the problem.
There are just some people who think anyone who earns a living is evil.
very sad attitude

At the end of the day, its entertaining, its educational, and its lawful

maybe you don't know much about palestine and israel, what's happening there and the effect it has on millions of people? maybe you don't care? mark thomas' tour has done so much to bring the plight of palestinians' living under an illegal occupation to an audience who would never have bothered to go to an activist's talk, or participated in a demo, or read some of the reporting from the region that isn't state-controlled. in fact, in so many ways his show is far more illuminating than any talk or demo can be. i went to his show in london, and i heard people's comments - many had no idea and were really shocked at some of his account. and, as some one with family living under occupation, i am delighted that mark thomas took the time to do the walk, the book and the show. and if he's making some profit out of it, then great. far better he profit than all the corporations involved in supporitng the illegal occupation, the oppression, the torture, the land theft, the home demolitions, the illegal colonies.
