coz "prison food is halal"!? Surely he can avail himself of the kosher meal option?

According to Luton Today Stephen Lennon aka Tommy Robinson is on hunger strike in whatever chokey Luton Magistrates Court remanded him to and he is claiming to be a “political prisoner of the state”. Additionally, "EDL spokesperson Helen Gower" claims that he is supposedly "on a hunger strike and will only be accepting water”, because "isn’t prison food halal, something which Tommy feels very strongly about and campaigns against.”

Really, you can't make these things up.

How was saturday a success for antifascists? The EDL showed they can still pull a few thousand thugs together with an obviously invisible communication network, as although many left wing blogs are saying that even the night before the demo EDL members had no idea where they were going etc I feel that is crap. They all knew where they were going and at least some of these people are organising off radar and not doing a bad job by the looks.

To get that many fascists into that area was no ad hoc plan. Ok we stopped them getting to Tower Hamlets, although I fear that was more to do with the police than any opposition we had assembled. I thought the EDL had been destroyed by infighting etc but that is obviously not the case, see the numbers in this pic, they are far from diminishing. A radical rethink is needed to defeat them. Any suggestions?

A1: There are only a few HUNDRED thugs in the photo of their London demo and the communication network - Facebook, that the EDL used to get most of them there is totally visible (hence Anti-Fascist successes in disrupting EDL's rendezvous points)

A2: It was the EDL's own Facebook (not left-wing blogs) that originally gave away where the EDL were planning to meet, that enabled us to disrupt those plans, and which revealed that several EDL coaches were cancelled due to lack of support. As it happens the EDL made it to London despite all that, but they were totally kettled from Euston and Kings Cross to the City of London, and never even made to the (far larger) reception antifascists had arranged for them in Tower Hamlets (lucky them)

I've had professional experience in forensic photo-analysis and the best way to measure a crowd size is the old fashioned method - actually count them. I blew-up the picture, sharpened it, and drew a cross on the print-out over each face on the EDL demo. The texture gets too blurry beyond a line leading from one side of the road adjacent to the bus shelter (right pavement, half way along the demo) to pick out each face individually, but there are by my count 305 people in the demo up until that line. Given the length of the actual protest, doubling that figure gives a reasonable estimate of 610 EDL, so let's say 700 for the sake of not under-estimating them (which near-as-dammit agrees with other estimates of the EDL numbers who joined together after assembling at Kings Cross and Liverpool St stations). Even trebling my actual count would however only make 915 which still falls far short of the THOUSANDS that EDL gobshites were predicting for "the big one".

Very true...... The EDL organised 'the big one', it failed, they turned up in such piss poor numbers that 'Tommy' now needs another media hit (alleged hunger strike). The press mentioned it, then promptly moved on.

On the face of it, it was an epic fail, ignore it and move on.... the EDL(ol) will disintegrate into its constituent bits, bigots, racists, pissheads banned from footie grounds and no marks who will go back to drinking cider on park benches.... leave em be and let it die.

While they waste their time trolling that, we organise behind the scenes. We got thousands of people into central London and into pubs with no bother and NO pubs turning us away. This was despite the left wasting masses of energy harrassing and phoning the pubs the Facebook page had named as ones we should use. EPIC FAIL

The fact is, we have trusted networks that you facebook stalkers will never infiltrate and you know it. Look at these screenshots from Indymedia. When anyone points out that Facebook is not where we organise he is slapped down and the silly cunts INSIST that Facebook is where we organise. Haha idiots.

If it was down to us there wouldnt be a main Facebook EDL page but its not our decision and people will try to get in touch via Facebook so they wont close it. The Casuals United FB group is used only for posting links, and occasionally to post disinformation. Its just too easy to mislead these fools. Some nobhead emailed before Tower Hamlets and asked if we could text him updates on where the Casuals would be on the day. Cosmic fail mate, if you arent known and vouched, you dont get in. Infiltrating us would actually involve leaving your house. You wont smash us from the safety of your keyboard.

1. EDL organiser Jeff "Baldrick" Marsh has been trolling under the guise of being a regular Indymedia user, posting defeatist comments about the protest against the EDL's Tower Hamlets fuck-up, then screen-capturing his own troll comments and re-posting them on his Casuals United blog to make it look as though some Anti-Fascists got cold feet about this one!

Facts of the situation - the EDL originally predicted they'd turn out 10,000 supporters for their "big one" in Tower Hamlets, then down-graded estimates to 2,500; the most generous estimates say (that after months of relentless hype) the EDL drew only 1000, in reality it was 700, several EDL divisions cancelled coaches due to lack of interest, and their march never even made it to Tower Hamlets. To cap it all, EDL gimps proved how much they respect free speech by attacking and sexually assaulting journalists, proved how much they respect British law by chucking bottles and fireworks at police, and yet again EDL supporters were photographed giving Nazi salutes and displaying Nazi tattoos. It's a shame the EDL were able to march at all, but either way this was a major fuck-up by the EDL.

2. In his tireless campaign to misrepresent his own screw-ups as evidence of some sort of "cunning plan" (anyone remember the EDL protests in Wales?) Jeff's also been trying to claim EDL Facebook posts about mustering in the pubs at Euston and Kings Cross were deliberate misdirection, and that serious EDL organising takes place over their mobile phone network... Jeff made his claims about the EDL phone network AFTER the NOTW phone-hacking scandal and AFTER Team Poison published dozens of EDL mobile numbers on the web... what a twat.

Finally, even IF (and it's a big "IF") the muster points published on the EDL's Facebook were misdirection, that was a plan so "cunning" that it successfully led 500 EDL supporters straight into the arms of the cops at Euston, then straight into a TSG kettle at Kings Cross. Sherlock Holmes this man is not!
