British police on Sunday charged a man suspected of participating in a hit-and-run attack that seriously injured two police officers during the height of the riots earlier this month.
Jah-Kiel McDermott, 28, was charged with attempted grievous bodily harm, police said. McDermott faces a court appearance in London on Monday.
The police officers sustained serious injuries when a car was driven directly at them. Both are now recovering at home.
The incident happened in northeast London at 1 a.m. on Aug. 8, the second night of rioting and looting that hit London and other British cities in the worst urban violence in several decades.
U.K. police have so far arrested more than 3,000 people suspected of crimes during the four nights of rioting.
