Oxford social centre gets first court papers served

Oxford's new social centre (aka "Pleb's college Free Uni") has just been served court papers.

The new social centre at 55 Randolph Street, East Oxford:

..has just been served court papers.

The hearing is next Thursday (25th August), so if an eviction notice was served immediately after that, then in the worst case scenario we could be out by Sat 27th - just 2 weeks after we moved in.

We haven't yet had a meeting to discuss our strategy, so I won't speculate too much at this stage; we might find a legal argument that will delay things, or mount a successful physical resistance.

In any case we are determined to make use of the space while we have it! The place is constantly being improved. This evening a climbing workshop will take place, on Saturday we'll have a big work day and Sunday will see a community meal.

As always, the best way to find out about the place is to pop round and see us :-)
