International Call For Resistance Support in the Susa Valley, Italy

This is a call for a forest occupation to aid the popular resistance in Val di Susa against the construction of a high-speed train line in the Italian Alps.

People organizing with No TAV (High-Speed Train) have been making resistance against the construction of a high-speed train line between Torino, Italy and Lyon, France for the past twenty years. This enormous project of destruction which threatens the nature and wildlife of the Susa Valley, is a maneuver to deviate public funds into the hands of private enterprises.

The inhabitants of the valley struggle relentlessly against the grand machine of repression put in place by the state of Italy. The soldiers and police officers occupy the valley and attack demonstrators with unbridled violence. The resistance is difficult but continuous; international camps, direct actions, demonstrations and blockades have been organized and will CONTINUE to be organized.

The objective of the resistance is the defense of the Susa Valley and it's marvelous country sides of montains threatened by the arrival of the high-speed that will completely transform the natural make-up of the valley.

The movement NO TAV has organized a camp and tree-sit in a zone where the construction of the tunbel will begin soon. The camp starts on the 1st of August.

The people organizing with NO TAV call on everyone from all countries participate in this actionand struggle along side of them. During the month of August, tree-nests and tree-sits will be built and the resistance to the enormous speculation will be escalated

To participate you will need gas masks, climbing rope (for the construction of tree-nests/sits)

The permenant camp can be found in Chiomonte, Italy near Torino. From there you will find information as to how to arrive to the tree camp.
