This morning about 50 polar bears have occupied the Edinburgh HQ of Cairn Energy. They are believed to be trying to find Cairn's elusive Arctic oil spill response plan.
Cairn is one of the companies spearheading attempts to extract fossil fuels from the arctic, region, despite the fact the ice caps are already melting as a result of fossil fuel use. Arctic extraction also involves drilling deep which has risks and the whole operation is likely to be catastrophic for wildlife and the environment.

An oil spill in such isolated, freezing conditions is likely to be catastrophic and Cairn has resisted requests from Greenpeace to publish its oil spill response plan.
