Fans have set up a record label, DEAD CROW RECORDS, to promote Torquay Rock Band, STRANGE RED EARTH on 5th June 2011.
Fans were frustrated that STRANGE RED EARTH did not receive the coverage they deserved. In the past promoters had struggled to identify which genre of music to place them in and therefore found it too difficult to know how to promote them.
The fans feel that STRANGE RED EARTH’s unique musical style should put them at an advantage, not a disadvantage! The fans feel so strongly that the band will be successful that they have started their own record label. “We want to put the unique sound of STRANGE RED EARTH out there so the people can decide...” said Jess Harbor, co-founder of the DEAD CROW RECORDS label. “We believe that because fans have a vested interest in the success of STRANGE RED EARTH then they will promote the band with more purpose” said Stuart Shiell, co-founder of the label.
STRANGE RED EARTH celebrated 20 years of existence when they played at Pub Alibi on Friday 13th May, supported by The Morrisons. STRANGE RED EARTH’s next appearance is at the Summer Moon Festival at Kingskerswell, Devon on Saturday 18th June.
