Swindon Town FC appoint Fascist manager
The Ghosts of Auschwitz | 23.05.2011 20:42 | Anti-racism | Culture | History
Swindon Town Football Club have appointed outspoken Fascist Paulo Di Canio as Swindon's new manager. Paulo Di Canio described Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini as "a very principled, ethical individual", and Paulo Di Canio has been filmed giving Nazi salutes. Di Canio's views provide huge reinforcement for violent Fascist groups in his native Italy. Now his appointment by Swindon Town FC provides a huge morale boost for violent racist groups in the UK.
Swindon Town Football Club have taken the extraordinary step of appointing outspoken Fascist Paulo Di Canio as Swindon's new manager. How the fuck appointing an open supporter of Fascist dictator and mass-murderer Benito Mussolini is supposed to enhance the club's "Community Partnership" and "Football in the Community" strategies is beyond me. This appointment is an insult to Swindon's black and Asian communities, and to every Briton who lived and died fighting Fascism in WW2.
In his autobiography Paulo Di Canio described Benito Mussolini as "a very principled, ethical individual", Di Canio has the word "Dux" (meaning "leader", the term used by Italian Fascists to refer to Mussolini) tattooed on his right arm, and several times Di Canio has been filmed giving Nazi salutes.
Di Canio's views provide huge reinforcement for violent Fascist groups in his native Italy, such as his former club Lazio's "Irriducibili" hooligans, who've displayed banners supporting Serbian war criminal Arkan and banners celebrating Auschwitz and other Nazi death camps. Now his appointment at Swindon provides a huge morale boost for violent racist groups in the UK. Have a word -

Warning - Demo could be a Trap
25.05.2011 12:02
If not be warned this could be a set-up. EDL regularly troll stupid comments on Indymedia, the Swindon Infidels (sic) are active on many EDL demos, their organiser Hoppy / Deano is a known Nazi, an invitation to meet in any pub could be a trap
A safer bet would be to go straight to the town centre and display any banners in full view of local CCTV, so if anyone does try and take a pop, it'll be recorded. If that doesn't appeal at the very least film with your own cameras and mobile phones from the off, also phone the Gazette and Herald etc beforehand and make SURE they agree to have photographers in place before any demo starts as that'll help discourage any EDL hooligans etc as well. Don't mean to be alarmist but better safe than sorry ;)

We have as good a chance as anyone of guessing if it is genuine or not, so make your own minds up - there have been cases in the past of demo's being called by trolls.

Trolling is a form of non-violent protest

Telling people not to troll is authoritarian and therefore is bad.

EDL traps

At the time anti-fascists seemed to heed the advice. Now, because the EDL proper have called an official Blackpool demo, UAF have called a counter-protest (which is probably a mistake) and the Casuals United blog is freely admitting the Casuals / EDL strategy WAS a trap!
Here's the proof (use IP shielding or a web caff).....

As for on-line campaigning, e-mails to the BBC helped get Di Canio challenged about his Fascism on TV, which at the very least alerted hundreds of thousands of local people to the nature of his beliefs (bear in mind that part of Wilts is quite heavily militarized and alot of local people fought the Fascists and Nazis in WW2) -

Clue is in the name numbnuts. EDL (English Defence League). You might as well complain that greenpeace isn't opposing paedos in christian churches. Its completely irrelevant.
>> when EDL sub-group Casuals United called anti-paedo demos in Blackpool, people posted on Indymedia warning not to protest against them as this might be a trap (as what the EDL wanted was photos they could mis-represent as being of anti-fascists "opposing" an anti-paedo demo, instead of opposing a Fascist front group which would be what they'd be actually doing).
Paranoid. Maybe they just wanted to protest against paedos. Fullstop.
You lot are the ones who came up with the conspiracy theory.

Bullshit. You are wrong. Thats a lie. UAF should keep their big noses out of things that don't concern them. MDR predicted that way back last year and now looks at that demo where UAF were left with egg on their faces.

Another lie. Jumping on the bandwagon of what had already happened and claiming responsibility. UEAC cornered that way before you guys.

As for Paulo Di Canio, watch the You Tube clip, this "hard" man hasn't even got the courage to stand up for his own beliefs
