Wildlife Rescuers Encourage Nest Watching

Animal Campaigns | 17.05.2011 05:31 | Animal Liberation

Animal Campaigns have condemned cat owners who do not watch local bird nests during this time of year.

Today Animal Campaigns released a statement encouraging responsible guardians of animals to keep a close eye on local bird nests during this time of year. Animal Campaigns recently took in a 1 week old nestling which had been scratched up by a cat.

"We're not here to condem every cat owner for the behavior of the cat however we would like to encourage every owner of a cat owner to make sure that their cat isn't going up the wrong tree and bringing a nest of birds with him back down." says Jake Knight on behalf of Animal Campaigns.

Jake Knight also added: "Just look for out the nest and look out for the birds. Do not interfere in any way. Nationally the RSPCA are best equipped to deal with wildlife rescues however there are small rescues out there who are equipped to deal with rescuing wildlife."

The nestling which was picked up just a few days ago later died in the care of a rescuer.

Introduce the Eagle Owl

17.05.2011 05:58

Although Cats spend a lot of their hunting, they kill anything that moves, they have no natural enemies, road vehicles are probably the main killers of Cats. Why not reintroduce the Eagle Owl who's favourite snack is said to be a nice fat Cat. Cats are responsible for the Death of about 80 million Birds a year in the UK alone. Perhaps Eagle Owls could balance things out a little bit.

All that is wrong with the AR movement

17.05.2011 06:55

This post and the thoughts behind it explain better than I ever could how the entire AR movement is so out of touch with reality. Where next ?

Protection for antelope from Lions ?
Kill all the Fish Eagles to protect fish?
Support whale killing to protect plankton ?

Once AR seemed relevent to the activist movement, now with the vegan eating and posts like the one above I doubt it will ever be taken seriously again.

There's an escaped Eagle Owl around here

Seen at RSPB Fairburn Ings fairly recently. Let's hope that one's eating it's share of cats, which are - quite frankly - vermin. All cats are good for is predating wildlife and shitting in other people's gardens.
