Iranian Hunger Strikers and Petition submission by Peacestrike to 10 Downing Street

There has been a hunger strike going on for 24 days, Opposite Amnesty Internationals offices in Exmouth Market, London, My names Steve Merrick and I cover a lot of the Iranian stories in London, so I am submitting these shots taken with one exception today, the men have sewn their lips together. Below is a type out of their press release.

Refugees continue hunger strike in Croydon Town Centre and Islington London.

"Attention to Iranian Refugees."

We are six Iranian nationals who have been refused asylum in the UK. We have been on hunger strike for sixteen days. We have not received any support from any organisation.

We are in England because we are members of Green Wave Voice, an organisation protesting against the results of the Iranian presidential election in 2009.

We claim the results were rigged to secure the re-election of president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which sparked protests in Iran and across the world. We were tortured in Iran. We came to the Uk looking for safety. We cannot return to Iran. We request for any help and any protection. We are destitute since we have been refused asylum. we are sleep in tents in front of Home Office, Lunar House Croydon and in Islington.

That's their info word for word. Effectively its a deportation protest, however being sent back to Iran is a very nasty and often fatal prospect. In total there are six hunger strikers involved.
