members from 'rhythms of resistance' and the 'soas samba band' gathered together last saturday afternoon, while japanese activists went through the gathered crowd collecting donations for disaster relief in japan.

although the band was small, the busk attracted a crowd at times.

unfortunately, the heavens opened and a downpour cut the busk a little short, but counting up in a nearby pub, £184.03 was raised.

the money will go to the 'miyagi prefecture' in northern japan. the prefecture administers two funds, one for reconstruction, and the other directly goes to refugee centres and relief efforts in the area. the donation will go to this second fund.
