Fukushima cover up over extent of radioactive discharge?

Uncle Christ + the sons of Ra | 10.04.2011 17:44 | Ecology | Ocean Defence | Terror War | World

Is there Uranium with a half life of over 700 million years leaking into the sea around Fukushima

On March 31st, TEPCO began monitoring the seas in 15km zone around the apocalyptic Fukushima nuclear plant. Since then they have been releasing details of the levels of Iodine and Caesium that have been found since the discovery of discharge from the ruptured reactors. Iodine and Caesium (30 years half life and 300 years to decay) have relatively short half lives in comparison to the Uranium (704 Million years half life) used in the production of nuclear power. There has been no mention of any Uranium to have leaked out.

TEPCO do report though Apr 5th

'Other nuclides figures are to be reinvestigated by improved measures under NISA (Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency in Japan) instruction on April 1st.'

As of April 9th

'Other nuclides figures are to be re-evaluated based on the improved measures for recurrence prevention which have been prepared in accordance to a strong warning by NISA on
April 1st.'

Not much change there then.

It's not difficult for one to assume that the other nuclides mentioned here are in fact Uranium and that the levels that are being detected are extremely high.

What we are potentially looking at here is a disaster of monumental proportions and the creation of species of sea life that one would only expect to see in the famous Japanese film Godzilla.

I call for an end to all Nuclear Power globally and any more monstrous mutants.

Too expensive, too much cost cutting and dodgy parts on reactors !!!

take it from someone who's lived in japan, you can only trust japanese politicians as far as you can throw them.
The Liberal Democratic country has run the country for way too long, and works only for the interests of bussiness.

Apparently now it's as bad as...

They raised the "status" of the disaster to Level 7, which is the highest level and they're saying a similar amount of radioactive material has escaped as Chernobyl so you could well be right!

It's just sad that the people of Japan had to teach the world the dangers of nuclear power as well as nuclear warfare....

The priority should be to stop it belching. Not leaving it HOT for 6 months.

Tepcos priority strangly seems to be resucueing the 1800 tonnes of old fuel rods. Even though its a technically hard thing to do.

If their water pumping arm can get a water sample from reactor building 4 then it can pump concrete straight into it.

The US army specialists with strong protective clothing could swing into action and do their thing.

The old reactors were always due to be decommissioned this month anyway, so TEPCOs position is actually false.

There were back up battery systems when the diesel generators failed, only for 6 hours BUT the workers had to stop for their PM. They should of done far more in the first 3 days.

If britians emergency planners have got a big stash of iodine tablets, the RAF should fly them out there, even the cold war out-of-date ones.

The french & russians have called for new nuclear standards. It not clear what that actually means, shutting down all reactors of this type? or just proclaiming french ones "safe" and foreign ones not??

If it is left to belch it will end up contaminating Tokyo and cause an estimated 20,000 cancers a year for at least 30 years, 400,000 in total. ;(

The best defence is to eat more spinnach not less. pe-doseing with natural iodine so the thiroid is full.

Its always been a Level 7 ever since it blew, they've just been lieing. 1% realeased so far... 99% to follow!
