NHS reforms are being put on hold for 3 months due to overwhelming public opposition

Protests already forced humiliating U-turns on forest privatisation, "lowest price" NHS competition, housing benefit cuts, and big concessions on tuition fees and the EMA in Scotland, Wales, and most recently on the EMA in England. The anti-cuts movement produced one of the most massive street protests in British history, the Lib Dems are so unpopular they're considering changing their name, and today The Independent says NHS reforms are being put on hold for 3 months due to overwhelming public opposition…

This gives us another 3 months to pile on the pressure and sink the entire cuts and privatisation package. The fight-back is working, INCREASE the pressure, spread the word!

Whilst these are 'mainsteam' campaigns, they are at least beginning to have some effect.
However, the 'new' Work Capacity Test' comes in fully from tomorrow and the sick and disabled, especially with long term and fluctating problems are living fear of it.
This despite its original new Labour archtect Prof Gregg, and it's reviser 'Prof Harrington, saying the whole thing is 'NoT FIT FOR PURPOSE' and a 'mess'. Even the revised version is clealry NOT FIT and instead of being implemented, is being postponsed as the CONDEMs drag their feet over it so they can ditch as many as possible into indignity, misery and penury while they wait months for a Tribunal.

Some have died needlessly already because of the previous WCA version. How many more ! Including possibly myself !

Elsewhere as reported in the Grauniad 2.4.11. a whistleblower at the PCS has revealled that staff at Jobcentres are being told to ditch people off even poverty benefits for the slightest infringements. Just as rapacious Big Businesses call for Jobcentres to be privatised.

Even top Tories and Lib Dems - Norman Tebbitt to David Owens + Shirley Williams - oppose the NHS reform, but this is being spun by BBC News as an opportunity for the Con Dems to "explain" their policies better, rather than for being what it really is, which is a last-ditch attempt to stave-off impending political catastrophe

This is not just a "mainstream" protest FYI, as lots of radicals are campaigning against NHS reforms. Pursue simultaneous and complementary strategies - the black hood up on the Saturday and writing polite e-mails to MPs on the Sunday (so-to-speak). Sign the petitions, write to your MPs and newspapers, AND hit the streets
