Charteris sports centre in Kilburn London NW6 was stolen from Brent residents by the council yesterday. 31/03/11. In january 2011 it was discovered that Brent council intended to close Charteris sports centre, a council run, funded by the tax payer at the end of March 2011. A campagin to save the centre was started and over 150 people turned up for the first impromptu emergency meeting in january. The local councillors Mary Arnold et al were there to "assure" the voters that they were doing all thier best blah,blah. People got together and came up with a business paln to run the centre and asked for a period of grace to be given. On 31/03/11 at approx 4pm Brent council officials with the police evicted people from thier legal lawful activity that they had paid for and shut the centre down without any notification. To the more cynical among the campaigners this came as little surprise. To many bleeding heart liberals they were dazed and confused that they had been lied to. This shows the contempt that Brent council has towards the very people who pay thier wages. C`mon people of Brent, shake off our chains and rise up! Time for dialogue is over, Direct action!!
