Brighton and Hove City Council doesn't want older or disabled, people.

It is a mirror of the Tory government and tries to reinforce their policies at a local level. The Tory controlled Brighton and Hove City Council attempts to make life diffilcult for older people and those with disabilities. It operates a system of social cleansing and the result is that these groups are forced to move out of this city.

Should you be one of the older citizens of Brighton and Hove, or someone with a disability, you will find the council to be difficult to deal with on just about every aspect of your life.

The council has decided that the city is to be reserved for the young, wealthy, set. Older people are not wanted there and are made to move away frequently. This was confirmed by someone who works for the council at a senior level.

There is very little social housing for older people in Brighton and Hove. This is deliberate policy and means that anyone who wants to find accommodation will have a struggle to do so in Brighton. The waiting lists are very long and it will take years to obtain accommodation. The only way to achieve being housed in to move away to somewhere that can provide accommodation. People who need special housing, sheltered, or for disabilites, will find it can take many years to get rehoused in this area. Again, it forces people to move. Many of these are in ill health, or have disabilites, so Brighton and Hove City Council can cleanse the city of these people by making sure they cannot get housed in suitable accommodation. They will probably die before they can obtain better housing.

Should an elderly person need care, then the council charges the highest amount in the UK for such services. This is at a rate of £850 per week. Another deterrent to people remaining in the city.

Those with physical disabilities fare no better. There is no advocacy service for people with physical disabilities in the city. One charity which assists disabled people gets the measly sum of £5000 a year as a grant from the council. Bear in mind that the Pride Festival gets a grant of £55,000. The council spent a five figure sum in fees for a barrister to persecute a Green councillor recently.

The Tory controlled council wants the city to be the preserve of the young and beautiful, money helps too. Thsi social cleansing must not be allowed to continue. Let the council know what you think and act now. After all, the young they cherish will be old themselves one day. The Tory council is in the grip of The Common Purpose and The Freemasons. The former is not known to be friendly to older, or disabled people.
