Anti-cuts campaigners are ramping up the pressure to fight cuts in our public services. Here's a selection of protests and meetings that you can get involved in.

Saturday 19 March
10.30am - Love Your Library at Blackbird Leys Library. A family friendly event with face painting and readings from authors organised by Friends of Blackbird Leys Library.

11.00am - The Big Society Hospital on Cornmarket. Street theatre asking what would happen if the 'big society' were applied to hospitals? Organised by Oxford Save Our Services and Oxfordshire Keep Our NHS Public.

Tuesday 22 March
5.30pm - Public meeting on how to stop the NHS Bill in lecture Theatre 1 at the JRII Hospital in Headington. A public meeting for anyone wanting to oppose the devastation that will be wrought by the NHS Bill which will see the NHS dismantled in favour of private companies running services for profit. Supported by the BMA, Oxfordshire UNSION Health branch, Keep Our NHS Public, and Oxfordshire Anti-Cuts Alliance.

Wednesday 23 March
5.00pm - Protest against the Budget outside Vodafone on Cormarket. Organised by Oxfordshire Anti-Cuts Alliance.

Thursday 24 March
UCU union members will be taking strike action that will shut down all colleges and Universities. This is to stop the employers' attack on their pension scheme. This is the opening shot in a war declared on public sector pensions on the grounds they are "gold plated". The truth is that the average public sector pension is around £5,000 a year and is not enough on its own to live off.

Saturday March 26
11.00am - March for the Alternative in London. This march provides the best opportunity this year to challenge plans to: wreck public services, slash jobs, triple tuition fees, scrap EMA, cut benefits, freeze wages and attack pensions. It will help invigorate the anti-cuts movement and help us win an alternative. There are now 19 coaches booked from across Oxfordshire and these are filling fast.  http://falseeconomy.org.uk/travel/south-east/OX/t1
