Mark Kennedy, the Black Bloc & 5 German undercover cops at G8 in Scotland 2005

reader | 21.02.2011 13:23 | Other Press | Repression | Sheffield | World

According to German Newspaper Der Spiegel, head of Germany's federal police Jörg Ziercke admitted that German state authorities had specifically requested undercover Met Police officer Mark Kennedy's presence in Heiligendamm in 2006/7.
An acknowledgement in the public domain of what some of us long suspected, on quote from the Guardian today: "The Newspaper [Der Spiegel] said Kennedy's involvement in criminal activity raised concerns that he was working as an agent provocateur and not just an observer "

According to German Newspaper Der Spiegel, whose reporters claim to have been leaked the minutes from a private meeting in the German parliament in January, head of Germany's federal police Jörg Ziercke admitted that German state authorities had specifically requested Kennedy's presence in Heiligendamm.

Kennedy attended preparatory gatherings ahaed of anti-G8 protests in Heiligendamm in Eastern Germany and is claimed to have been involved in organising protests in relation to the event. According to Der Spiegel, he was invited to Germany by the authorities to infiltrate the anti-fascist movement (date not revealed), but in terms of the anti-G8 protests in particular, it is claimed he spent time involved with persons involved with the Black Block.

Both the Guardian and Der Spiegel have already reported that Ziercke revealed to German MPs that Kennedy was charged by two crimes, one a charge of arson, but the cases against him were dropped at the behest of German authorities who knew Kennedy's true identity. On quote from the Guardian today: "The Newspaper [Der Spiegel] said Kennedy's involvement in criminal activity raised concerns that he was working as an agent provocateur and not just an observer "

Today's Guardian article taken from Der Spiegel's latest reporting on the subject also reveals that whilst discussing the Kennedy case, Ziercke answered questions about German undercover officers abroad. Through leaked witnesses reporting, German newspaper Der Spiegel reveals that Ziercke talked of five being sent to the anti-G8 protests in Gleneagles, Scotland in July 2005.

5 Germans, many more from many other states

21.02.2011 14:54

Gleneagles was hijacked. The pure protesters I know body-swerved it. The various 'camps' were a disgrace and smarter folk avoided them. The actions were crap, blocking dangerous roads, attacking unprotected burger joints instead of military bases/factories, and generally acting like police provocateurs rather than genuine activists. It set anarchism back 20 years in Scotland, and the unwitting yet genuine retard 'leaders' who took part should now retire from activism in shame because even if they weren't complicit with the police then they did dance to their tune. You might not be police informers or infiltrators, but your stupidity certainly enables the police.

To all new protesters here, never give up or be discouraged but learn from the mistakes of the past. Don't join existing groups, start your own with people you trust with your life. Learn from the past and improve. Be wary of anyone who calls you paranoid. Don't fall for the fake consensus on sites like this (the 'In' in Indymedia stands for infiltrator).

Direct action is necessary and possible, but don't post it here and don't join existing groups. All existing groups are toxic to dissent, and that is why we haven't any decent actions for the past ten years except by individuals. This isn't Libya, the UK is far worse.

I see the Guardian had to once again repeat the lie that Kennedy helped to found the Icelandic activist movement.

Dis-information?

21.02.2011 16:57

Blok, this is total disinformation crap

- There were actions at military bases - Faslane was shut for the Monday when it was blockaded during the G8. All the staff there were told to stay away in case of trouble. It was the most successful blockade of Faslane ever

- Similarly, all the detainees were moved out of Dungavel detention centre because there were fears of a mass break out during the protests there on the Tuesday.

- The roads that were blocked on the Wednesday were comprehensively shut down with delegate’s cars being blockaded and the A9 was completely deserted (so not dangerous at all...)

- Only one burger joint on a retail park was attacked as a tactical diversion to pull cops away and allow people to get out of the Eco-village on the Wednesday morning for the blockade of the summit

- The Wednesday blockade was agreed by open meetings of the Dissent network which worked supporting a diversity of tactics. The blockade at the start of the summit was the largest action of its kind ever held in the UK, involving more people and a wide number of groups in an area with major obstacles to organising such an action (which is why Gleneagles was chosen for the summit)

- At least three social centres in Scotland received significant help before during and after the G8

- Although there were problems with the Eco-village / Hori-zone at Stirling it was still an amazing model of decentralised organising and set the model for practically organising future Climate Camps which were seen as a direct continuation of the Eco-village convergence.

- The G8 at Gleneagles led directly to the setting up of No Borders groups in Scotland, England and Wales and initiatives such as the Unity Centre

- Scotland has also seen significant anarchist organising and direct action since the G8 with actions at Faslane, Mainshill / Happenden, the Hetherington occupation, for example, as well as a significant growth in anti-fascist activity and with @-Fed organising and much of this has a direct link with people / networks involved during the G8

What was clear in the run-up to the G8 was how poorly organised anarchists in Scotland and the UK generally were and this was taken advantage of by both the State and leftist groups such as G8 Alternatives. Despite that however the Dissent network clearly managed to mobilise a significant number of people and organise convergence centres in three Scottish cities hosting several thousand people. This was all done with the minimum of hierarchy and it is clear just how little impact infiltrators such as Mark Kennedy were able to have on how and what we organised.

In reality it was the bombings in London on 7/7 that had the greatest impact on what happened at the G8 and how things finished.

To advocate that people stay away from the different initiatives and networks that came directly out of organising around the G8 ( and God-knows how many that came out indirectly) is to completely mis-represent things.

disinformation crap & Tartan kitsch

"- There were actions at military bases - Faslane was shut for the Monday when it was blockaded during the G8. All the staff there were told to stay away in case of trouble. It was the most successful blockade of Faslane ever"

Utter bullshit. Faslane has been blocked many, many times. To call any single block 'the most successful' is nonsense and ignores the fact that Faslane had been penetrated many hundreds of times in the years before that, and diminishes the actions that led to activists getting aboard our 'nuclear deterrent' before that. The G8 blok by comparison was pathetic. It aimed low and hit lower. It was cowardly and unprofessional and you have immediately exposed yourself as a fraud.

"
- The roads that were blocked on the Wednesday were comprehensively shut down with delegate’s cars being blockaded and the A9 was completely deserted (so not dangerous at all...)"

The G8 went ahead unhindered, despite these retarded acts. By contrast the movements and the identities of the G8 sherpa's had been passed in advance to the relevant groups and no action was taken to hinder their progress, which seriously would have disrupted the conference. I don't know who you are but you are either an idiot or a spy. No one heavily involved in the G8 protests has any credibility now as the few of you who weren't undercover agents still acted as if you were.

"- Only one burger joint on a retail park was attacked as a tactical diversion to pull cops away and allow people to get out of the Eco-village on the Wednesday morning for the blockade of the summit"

Bullshit, all the local military targets were pointed out - and cased in advance - to the protestors. None of them were hit. No attempt was made to target them. All we got was endless footage of hooded arseholes attacking a MacDonalds and trashing local poor peoples cars. MI5 couldn't have planned it better to discredit anarchism. The fact you left the Burger King alkone because they had hired a single security guard shows how soft you were.

"- At least three social centres in Scotland received significant help before during and after the G8"

Funny that, since at most there are two now and both of them are forward operating bases for the security services. Why not identify yourself if you are so proud of your 'legacy'?

"- Although there were problems with the Eco-village / Hori-zone at Stirling it was still an amazing model of decentralised organising and set the model for practically organising future Climate Camps which were seen as a direct continuation of the Eco-village convergence."

It was a reserve for cops and wankers. It achieved nothing of worth except the furtherment of the state. Have you not even read the article? Shame on all the fakers there who went along with the infiltrators agenda, you might not all be cops but you may as well be.

"- The G8 at Gleneagles led directly to the setting up of No Borders groups in Scotland, England and Wales and initiatives such as the Unity Centre"

Aye, and guess who immediately started running the Unity Centre? Starts with Phi and ends with Ones. Fakes, as anyone can judge by their results.

"- Scotland has also seen significant anarchist organising and direct action since the G8 with actions at Faslane, Mainshill / Happenden, the Hetherington occupation, for example, as well as a significant growth in anti-fascist activity and with @-Fed organising and much of this has a direct link with people / networks involved during the G8"

That again is mostly wrong, although there was a increasing trend in both cases that has been partly disrupted by your 'support'. There were more, and more succesful, local anti-open cast actions before this period. There has been an increase in anti-fascist meetings, but that was natural progression since Scotland never used to suffer much from fascist acts - which incidentally have increased at a far greater rate during the same period, partly due to genuine working class people thinking anarchism is limited to the sort of nonsense you espouse. The fact is Scotland was a far more anarchist country in 1979 than it was in 1995, and it was a far more anacrhist country in 1995 that it is now. You are to blame for that.

...storm the MI5 building and read their archives - or learn how to expose the traitors in your midst in advance.

Nobody wanted you at Gleneagles...

22.02.2011 10:44

Certainly not the local people. Only your allies in Al Qaeda were glad that you kept half the Met occupied that week so that they could murder 52 Londoners more easily.

G8 "activists" = Al Qaeda stooges
