Front page BLOAT

Front page is Bloated

Can anything be done about the BLOATING on the front page.
Mobile server is not working, so anyone coming to the site to post urgent news can not do so on a mobile device as the front page will not load due to bloat and too many hyper-links.

Urgent call out could have been sought in Leeds today when the where abouts of nick Clegg where discovered GLOATING under the noses of Leeds students but no-body could find a WORKING way to get the message out on here.
The site may work at home on your PC with Broadband, but many urgent action requests need to be made in the field and the damn site would not load.
Can I ask the site constructors
Is it really necessary to have 652 links on the front page.
Or can a publish only portal be made with a short url
