nuclear renaissance demo

Demonstrators attended the nuclear renaissance event to remind business men what they are really getting into.

It is poison and no new tech or fancy words can dispose of the waste or repair the damage caused by nuclear in all its forms.

Nukelear power - No thanks

OK....so - yet another Nuclear Renaissance event....was, it seems, attended by (Blissfully?) ignorant people in business suits?
But we need jobs....they say....
If we don't make nuclear(power) bombs - then someone else will...they say.
The western world is safe...because we have a nuclear deterrent - they say.

I say...talk of jobs, business suits and smirking at loony, soap-dodging lefties in white boiler suits will NOT prevent them....or anyone from nuclear fallout, radiation sickness, vomiting, loss of skin, son, daughter, etc....when all this is out.

Ohhhhh....THREADS!....Pah!....that was just a film!

Ohhhh. Chernobyl....! ...That was just Clumsy ruskies...damned commies...nothing to do with us!

Ohhhh.....Five mile island....etc, etc,

Ohhhh....cough, cough, splutter, splutter.....

Too late now.

More renewables ?

Most people think that, the most important thing is to 'keep the lights on', and they live in fear of what they call 'the dark ages'. Possibly this was an age when the sky went dark at night rather than the reassuring yellow glow that we have become accustomed to. But the 'dark ages', not so long ago, were the natural state of night. If we want to change it, there are consequences for nature, how ever you try to power it.

The power of the wind is the cleanest of all energy, harnessed for thousands of years by millers and sailers, so I was shocked to read the article bellow:

CO2 is good, more forests please and a wood economy.

forwards thinking

To: Bawb

I agree with your argument in spirit. However:

1. We, globally, are producing Co2 at a faster rate than trees can absorb it. So the Co2 ends up in the atmosphere where it acts as a greenhouse gas.

2. We, again globally, are deforesting the planet, so in the future there will be fewer trees to absorb the Co2 than no, hence more Co2 in the atmosphere.

As things are, more Co2 does not mean more trees, it means more greenhouse effect, and more damaging climate change.
