Workers block highway for pay hike

Workers of a polypropylene’s packet manufacturing factory blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur for one and a half hours on Sunday 13 February demanding a pay hike.
The workers of 'Miracle' located at C&B Bazar no-1 in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur went on work abstention in the morning. At one stage, the demonstrators took to the highway at about 7:00am, halting traffic movement for one and a half hours.
Transport movements on the highway resumed at about 9:30am after police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said a correspondent from Gazipur.
The workers have been demonstrating for salary increase and regular payment for the last few days.
