Durham County Council are due to decide on UK Coal plc's Bradley Opencast Mine Application on Tuesday 15/2/11. Read how to join those who are planning to demonstrate against DCC approving the Application.
A CHANCE TO STOP ANOTHER OPENCAST MINE APPLICATION FROM SUCCEEDING!!
On Tuesday 15th February, Durham County Council (DCC) are to decide whether to give UK Coal plc planning permission to work the Bradley opencast site near Leadgate.
The Case Officer recommendation is that Durham County Council should approve the Application.
If the 500m Buffer Bill was an Act, this Application would not succeed.
The Durham's Development Control and Regulatory Board meeting starts at 2.30pm.
The local campaign group No Opencast Today or Tomorrow are organising a demonstration to persuade DCC to reject the application. They are inviting anyone who objects to opencast planning applications to join with them to show that this is not just a local Durham problem but it is a National problem. The demonstration, outside of Durham County Council HQ, starts at 2.00pm.
At least one other group, the Minorca Opencast Protest Group from Leicestershire is planning to be there. If you or your group wants to come, banners and all, the more the better.
