The cops appear to be clamping down in advance of the demonstrations in London and Manchester on Saturday.

The cops appear to be clamping down in advance of the demonstrations in London and Manchester on Saturday. They have been busy briefing journalists defending the use of “hyper-kettling” and charging protesters with horses - see for example  http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/jan/27/hugh-orde-police-protest-tactics
Seven people have been charged with public order offences and a further 5 cautioned from previous demos.
Reports are also coming in of people being arrested at their homes this morning following previous demos.
