The Government announced the 'green' light for Damhead - a gas powered station next door to Kingsnorth!

It's still using fossil fuel and it still supposed to have 'Carbon Capture' technology!

They are just taking the piss by putting it next door to Kingsnorth.

Plans for a £500m gas-fired power station in north Kent have been approved by the government.

Energy minister Charles Hendry has given the go-ahead for ScottishPower to build the plant near Hoo St Werburgh.

The new power station will be built next to the company's existing gas-fired Damhead Creek power station.

Mr Hendry said the plant would be built "carbon capture ready" so that eventually CO2 from the site could be stored under the North Sea.

He said the plant would play a vital role in providing secure electricity supplies for the South East, as well as creating jobs.
