Statement from IMC UK on impending split and IP logging controversy

qa | 23.01.2011 15:35 | Analysis | Free Spaces | Indymedia | Birmingham | Sheffield

When can we expect an official statement now that Schnews, IMC Birmingham and IMC Sheffield have let the cat out of the bag on the indymedia IP logging controversy. Or will IMC UK continue to hide all reference to it?

It's time to reveal the truth and stop keeping indymedia users in the dark. The conspiracy of silence is unforgivable and a major betrayal of trust. So, come clean and let us know how this relates to the split of IMC UK reported elsewhere.

Suspicious timing

Why would some admins decide that now was a good time to reveal this? Seems odd as the damage it will do to indymedia reputation is painfully obvious. As the anti-cuts movement grows the need for a safe place to publish is more critical then ever and with a new generation of activists learning the hardway about the perils of using facebook and twitter etc, one would hope that indymedia would have offered as safe and trusted alternative. This hope is now destroyed along with the credibility of all IMC UK admins.

no more lies, no more coverups, no more censorship

I predict this thread will be hidden within the hour.

You can only conclude that the stalemate was a result of an infiltrator digging their heels in.
