Strike the royal wedding

julie | 11.01.2011 00:30 | Social Struggles

Tube drivers and BA workers are reported (albeit in the daily mail) to be planning strikes for the day of the royal wedding. In the wake of the horrendous situation most people find themselves in, it will be reassuring to see the royal family step out in public to remind us that we're all in it together. I remember the talk of united strike fronts through 2011, and wonder what better opportunity unions will ever have to maximise their potential.

The royal family have been making a habit of this recently, after their royal procession trawled through London's streets on the day education was laid to waste by Parliament. Charles and Camilla's shamelessly expensive security junket passed cheerily through mobs of commoners as the royal couple tried to make it to a variety performance while the peasants tried to salvage their futures.

I'm sure everyone will want to warmly thank the royals for such a timely injection of context. Details of their royal plans can be found at  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2011/01/471608.html
