It would be great if there was resistance to Miss England throughout the country.

To enter, one must be aged 17-24, be size 6-14, single with no children, and be as quote 'of good character and possessed of charm, poise, personality and have beauty of face and figure'.

Feminists in Lancaster, Manchester and London are planning actions against them. Please pass this around feminist groups. It would be great if there was resistance to Miss England throughout the country.

Ideas are to put pressure on venues to not hold the event, complain to the sponsors, protest/disrupt the regional competitions, send in fake and funny applications on mass...

Read: Available?

Are there contacts for the groups planning actions?

I. Wonder

Must be a Miss

Perhaps the women have to be single- or more likely their marriage status as single, as it would in some warped way detract from their attractiveness if they were perceived as all grown up and unavailable. What is interesting is that in the Mr England competiton (yes they exist too!), men entering can go by the title of Mr, Dr Captain..., but women entrants can't go by any other title other than Miss.

Even better, there are a number of beauty meat markets specifically recruiting eco-whores. This is but one:  http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/blog/2010/jan/08/miss-earth-2010

In reality the participants are normally sponsored by green-washing corporations.

Thanks for posting that link- I'm genuinely surprised that Miss Earth even exists. Beyond a joke.
