Connecting oil slicks to tuition fee rises

A lot of people have protested against tuition fee rises but many of them thought the Liberal Democrats were to the problem. But tuition fee rises are connected to the rot at the heart of our political systems.

Lord Browne of Madingley, or Lord Browne of BP as he is also known, put his name to the Review of Higher Education that not only introduces higher tuition fees but aims to marketise all of education.
The government employs 'business leaders' because they know how to get things done. But Lord Browne's record as a businessman is not all that it could be, and many people think he bears responsibility for the Deepwater Horizon disaster, for ongoing human rights abuses in Colombia, and for other actions of BP, the company he was once CEO of.
