A list showing the full contact details of shoppers and donors who used the far-right English Defence League’s (EDL) clothing website has been published online.
The website was compromised by hackers early on Sunday morning who replaced it with their own page. Almost 350 people who used the website have had their names, addresses and email addresses published online.

The EDL had only just re-launched the clothing website after it was temporally shut down following an internal argument over the use of funds generated by the sale of merchandise.
Members of the EDL expressed anger over the data breach on the group’s Facebook page. This morning, some members were warning others never to purchase EDL merchandise online until proper security was in place. An EDL administrator told members not to panic as they woke up to find their details posted online.
Lax security meant that passwords used to log in and out of the website were not encrypted on the server leaving them freely available to the group who hacked the website this morning. The result of this was the ‘hijacking’ of Facebook, email and Ebay accounts of those members who used the same password on all of those websites. Despite this EDL administrators claim that many of names and addresses compromised ‘appear to have been made up’.

The list mentions Smiti Mittal and Ravindra Agarwal, who Google reveals are Software Developers from Abhitech IT Solutions in Lucknow India, and few other employees of Abhitech IT, the company who EDL founder Paul Ray confirmed handle EDL web business, and employees of this company's Lucknow office seem to account for all of the list's visibly Asian entries, so it seems the EDL showed their patriotism by outsourcing this work to an IT company in India!
Do NOT send these people abusive messages, firstly just in case the list isn't genuine and/or contains mistakes, but also for strategic reasons - if you contact them at all send polite and well-informed communications indicating that their fears about extremist Islam are perfectly legitimate but that the EDL are extremists exploiting those genuine concerns.

As I understand it, freenet is more anonymous, but requires people to download a program to use it. Torrents would be less anonymous (the IP addresses of the people sharing the file might be visible) but potentially more accessible as more people probably have torrent program than freenet.

genuine concerns , perfectly legitimate fears they most certainly are not . The EDL is an islamophobic i.e. a racist organisation . People who buy EDL t-shirts are Islamophobes -a phobia isn't a genuine fear , it is an irrational fear .

Some time ago I was sent a link to an either an article about a poppy burning demonstration or maybe a funeral protest (I can't remember). I do remember a donation button to "support the troops" or something similar. I donated one pound.
I NEVER for one moment thought my money was being sent of to a bunch of Football hooligans.
Clearly I am stupid.

I appreciate it may not be possible to remove this list. But if you feel you must distribute it can you please at least pass my comments on with it. We really don't want any more hate mail. It is important to explain clearly to edl members that their fears and concerns are not reasonable , but have been deliberately stoked up by the state at a time of economic crisis to divert opposition to the planned dictatorial policies that the state believes will be needed to introduce conditions of penury at home and war abroad .The Islamophobic EDL was consciously raised by military and extreme right wing forces with close connections to state intelligence agencies for those purposes.
Islamophobia itself is a conspiracy - the brain-child of zionism used to justify the theft of Palestinian land and justify the nazi-like repression imposed on Palestinian communities when they resisted the IDF. It was taken up by right wing forces in the West with the twin purposes of justifying the invasion of countries that had large Muslim populations and dividing workers in the west against muslim immigrants. Tailored to suit the sensitivities of the left Islamophobia has done terrible harm to the long-standing unity between the left and the muslim community.
The highest expression of that unity was the anti war march in 2003. Within two years of the historic march we saw the orchestrated Danish Islamophobic cartoon provocation which was naively supported by sections of the left in Europe. Some of those left /anarchist forces were shocked to discover two years or so later that the clearly right wing edl were using the very sàme anti muslim rationales that they themselves had formulated when they were supporting the Jyllands-Posten provocation - freedom of speech , islam is a religion and not a race etc. But Islamophobia is racism , just as nineteen-thirties' anti-Semiticism was racism even though , like Islam ,Judaism isn't a race.
Until the left deals with islamophobia in its own ranks , it will never be able to seriously address the problem of the edl.

Other anti-fascists be aware that the EDL are making noises about trying to get people done for "harassment" - it's all front, as Jeff Marsh, a convicted career-hooligan who's served 3 jail terms for stabbings, is not going to be offering the police access to his PC and to his e-mail and You Tube passwords so he can prove his stupid allegations, and I can't see many other EDL supporters wanting to hand their PCs over to the cops either, but anti-fascists should still remember to not ever contact EDL members from any e-mail address or web service whose identity can be traced, and to not ever threaten anyone who appears on EDL or BNP lists
A message to Jeff Marsh is that the videos you made harassing, defaming and threatening anti-fascists were all downloaded before you pulled them from You Tube, and your channels were comprehensively archived and screen-capped, so when it comes to the law you're the one that's in deep shit mate. Perpective , I do think that the police special branch and military inteeligence at the highest level will already have access to the computers of leading edl members . They are all part of the same gang .
