Brixtons links to social justice struggles today.

Brixton is famous as a community of resistance for its vibrant history of collectively taking direct action against racial and other forms of social and structural injustice. We have a history of battles of resistance against enslavement of peoples all over the world. This exhibition will relate the struggles in Brixton to global issues of climate justice. Including the pillage of natural resources, environmental racism, disasters caused by climate change, growing inequity, discrimination, marginalization of the poor and a new age of austerity to pay for the banker’s bailout.

Plus: Bash the Bankers!

Smash our piñata piggybank, kindly donated by World Development Movement.

Followed by an evening of films in the Dogstar Pub, Coldharbour Lane, Brixton.

Let us use our response to the call for ‘1000 Cancuns for Climate Justice' to rekindle Brixton unity and community resistance for global justice!

*This event is in response to a global call out by La Via Campesina, an international peasant movement representing subsistence farmers from 70 countries. It will coincide with the end of COP-16, the international climate treaty negotiations in Cancun, Mexico.

**Global Justice Brixton are a newly formed open grassroots network of local residents from Brixton and the surrounding area, working together at a local level to highlight social and environmental justice issues.

***The World Development Movement (WDM) is a UK-based anti-poverty campaigning organisation. We have a worldwide reputation for tackling hard-hitting, controversial issues.
