Following the formation of Greater London Action for Animals (GLAA) we announced that our first protest action would be outside Hamleys in London, due to their use of penguins as part of an in-store promotion.

This morning, following a release calling upon supporters to contact the company's executives, Hamleys of London announced that they will be withdrawing the penguins from the Christmas promotions and using other means for promotions.

We welcome the decision and there is no doubt that the pressure from animal rights activists has helped influence the move by Hamleys. As a result, we ask all supporters to cease contact with the store and are calling off the demonstration.

We are currently considering holding a protest on the same day, but at another venue within the City of London, related to bloodsports and hunt violence. More details are to be announced.

Do managers even think?

Why on earth would a store even think of sticking a pack of penguins in a boiling hot congested shop?

Sometimes I think store managers are simply brainless. Good that you've managed to change their plans though.
