around 1000 students took over the streets of Brighton today...

Students walked out from Dorothy Stringer School, Sussex Uni, Varndean (and probably many more).

The march went from Old Steine to Hove Town Hall. .When police attempted to get in front of the march lines were broken andd police were overrun.

Hove Town hall was surrounded and a banner, saying 'Education is a right not a Privilege' hung from a nearby multi-storey carpark.

Police moved in to kettle the town hall and marchers ran the other way, taking over the streets again and attacked Vodafone on Western Road with eggs, windows were smashed before the demo moved on.

As police moved in to kettle demonstrators on North Street people stood in front of police vans, blocking a police convoy for several minutes.
