Nottingham Students Protest Fees and Cuts - Press Release

Nottingham Students Against Fees and Cuts | 29.11.2010 20:10 | Education | Globalisation | Other Press | Public sector cuts

Despite heavy snow, 500 students have pledged they will attend the National Day of Action against Fees and Cuts on Tuesday the 30th of November in Nottingham.*

Students from both Nottingham and Trent University will fight the proposed 80% cuts to the university teaching budgets. Many students are angered by the proposal to treble fees with one student arguing that "the bankers can pay to clean up their own mess. I don't see why students or anyone else should have to."

Will Vickers, the president of the University of Nottingham's Students Union, supports the demonstration and will be speaking at the rally on the University Park Campus.

One of the groups organising the protest, Nottingham Students Against Fees and Cuts, has recieved the support of teachers, lecturers and the "Nottingham Save our Services" campaign.***
