Loughborough Walkout success

Val | 26.11.2010 13:44 | Education

Loughborough College students were a magnificent exuberant crowd making their voice heard around the town centre against the cuts in education and against the rise in tuition fees. This was a large protest with a big voice for a small town.

As part of the national walkout against tuition fees Loughborough college students and supporters made a tremendous impact! Around 250 college students from a number of secondary schools and colleges in the town made their way noisily through Loughborough University student Union and onto Loughborough College where they protested loudly and gathered more students before marching to the town centre. With lots of noise and chanting they made their voices heard around the town centre and onto Tory MP Nicky Morgans' office, which had been closed for the day. They took their protest to the council offices with an increasing police numbers (including a police photographer!) stopping traffic on the way. The council offices locked the doors and the protest was not allowed entrance. They returned to the town centre and after some more rallying chanting dispersed peacefully. A massive well done to all those who took part!
