Domestic extremism: time to start submitting those data protection requests
From November 25th it is possible to use the Data Protection Act to discover what information the "domestic extremism" units hold on you.
At its meeting today, the Metropolitan Police Authority has agreed that the national domestic extremism units (NPOIU, NDET and whats left of NETCU) will be transferred from ACPO to the Metropolitan Police. This means that these units are now brought within the remit of the Data Protection Act.

So you if you want to find out what information they have on YOU send a request to

MPS Public Access Office, PO Box 57192, London, SW6 1SF

You can download the form from:

http://www.met.police.uk/information/request_forms.htm

Under the previous head of domestic extremism, some personal files had been released but it was never confirmed that they constituted all of the data because, as they said, they were obliged to conform to the Act.
