JERUSALEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli settlers took control of a Palestinian-owned apartment in the At-Tur neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday, residents said. Palestinians in the area said the apartment was the subject of a five-year legal battle in which a court ultimately ruled in favor of the Israelis.
The reported takeover comes a day after Israeli police evicted a Palestinian family from their home in Jerusalem's Jabal Mukabber neighborhood. Israeli settlers said they purchased the house from a now-deceased relative of the family, a claim the original inhabitants disputed.
