LONDON ANIMAL RIGHTS ROUND-UP
Over the past week, activists in London have been fighting the fur trade head on and continuing our message of ending the abuse and cruelty of this pointless industry.
------------------------------------
Saturday 13th Nov
Over 300 activists marched through the centre of London's fashion district and spread the anti fur message loud and clear. Police officers lined the shop fronts, whilst angry activists formed large crowds on the pavements outside.
Outside Harrods, a message was sent to the new owners - The Qatar Holdings - whose financial take-over is complete in mid-January. A spontanious sit-down protest was also held, the first in many years on animal rights demo's, sending a clear message to the fur industry.
Following this, fourty activists visited Beyond Retro in Soho where the shop front was lined with two rows of police officers. After a dispute, police begun shoving activists into the road and tried to violently put an end to the demo. This didn't work and set the mark for future protests.
--------------------------------------
Sunday 14th Nov
Activists held a noisy demonstration outside Beyond Retro's main UK store on Cheshire Street, Shoreditch, to keep up the mounting pressure against the sick vintage fur industry.
--------------------------------------
Tuesday 16th Nov
A group of campaigners hit New Bond Street fashion retailers selling real fur. Noisy demonstrations were held outside a number of stores, leading to all being empty for the morning and management having to guard the doors outside Joseph. Others receiving demo's included Max Mara, their subsidiary Marina Rinaldi and another Joseph store.
--------------------------------------
Wednesday 17th Nov
Campaigners held a noisy protest outside one of London's few remaining furriers, Bianca, on Kendal Street.
