It may have been dropped by accident, so lets not jump to conclusions.

Stupid action?

I'm only sad that a copper wasn't lamped by it as it hit the ground. Perfectly acceptable for them to smack people in the head with metal truncheons, yet when the crowd fights back it's violent disorder? Hypocrisy.

Fuck the law courts, hang the police!

"So either 'not as bad as it could have been' or exteme punishment for a stupid act."

It is equally possible that it was not an act at all. Taking something as large as a fire extinguisher to the edge of a roof is not desirable, it may fall off. But if it does fall off that does not mean that it was deliberately thrown. I have dropped things off roofs by accident before. It is up to the prosecution to prove intent to injure someone on the ground.

The police are feeling pressure from the Daily Wail, Torygraph and so on. They are looking for any sort of charges. Many of them will be quietly dropped when they have served their purpose, which is as a smoke screen. Others will be thrown out by the courts.

Remember the hunt man who intimidated a gyrocopter crew and then tried to stop it using his head. The police rushed to charge a victim of this aggression with murder, later reduced to manslaughter. The jury came to the correct verdict, not guilty, but the victim should not have been put through the ordeal.  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2010/04/448450.html

Like politicians it is easy to tell when the police are lying, their lips move.

A police agent

"I'm only sad that a copper wasn't lamped by it as it hit the ground."

I see that we have another police agent with us. Posting messages the only use for which can be to be used at a trial, as evidence of the violent nature of the protesters. Fairly easy to see through by real people, but prosecution lawyers construct ridiculous claims out of this sort of posting.

The charge is significant

It only requires a disorderly action in concert with others - throwing or dropping and object would count and the intention is irrelevant. This is good news as it will likely be a fine.
