Protesters take over Tory Party H.Q. !

Stillshooter | 10.11.2010 20:44 | Education | Public sector cuts | Social Struggles | World

A demonstration organised by the National Union of Students which began peacefully, with up to 50,000 students, lecturers and supporters, marching from Whitehall past Downing Street and Parliament, suddenly turned violent.

An hour after the protest started, violence flared at Millbank Tower, close to the Tate Britain art gallery where the march was due to end with a rally.

A number of police officers were injured after they came under attack from youths, some wearing scarves to hide their faces, amid scenes of chaos. Hundreds of workers were evacuated from the building, which also houses other organisations including Government agencies, as windows were smashed and a fire was lit.

Again, pathetic

Why not stage an intelligent, intellectually challenging protest? Because it's fun to "fuck shit up"? Because you all enjoy terrorising people? Get over yourselves, your thoughtless actions will have potentially ruinous effects on the campaign since now all the media (even the left-wing media) can talk about is your childish, violent behaviour.

Fair Play

Excellent show from those who occupied Tory Party HQ. As we know from the Iraq war, wandering around in circles waving placards and writing to our MPs does nothing. As we know from the Poll Tax a more active approach is effective.

Good to see students aren't as apathetic as they were once rumoured to be.

And excellent to see the Conservative HQ trashed. Made my day. Good luck to those arrested - you are heroes!
