CASTOR train in Germany heavily delayed

A N Other | 08.11.2010 09:06 | Climate Chaos | Energy Crisis | Repression

After inspiring resistance the train of nuclear waste has made it to the end of the railway. They now have to get the waste onto trucks and to the dump.

Comrades in France and Germany have done a great job slowing the train of death on its journey from France to Germany. The train had not got very far before the first blockade stopped it. Protest was not as large in France, but stepped up in Germany.

The train was diverted in southern Germany because of a track blockade, but the main resistance was planned near the end of the route. The train was supposed to reach its destination on Sunday, but it has only just arrived on Monday morning. The police spent all night removing people from the tracks before the train could complete the run.

Now they will put the waste on trucks and try to get it to the dump on roads where resistance will be as fierce.

Don't believe mainstream media reports, based on police accounts. The violence has come from the police, though a few people retaliated when provoked.

There is a moving map at  http://castorticker.de/map and a ticker at  http://www.castorticker.de/ both in German but translation tools are available.  http://de.indymedia.org/ is a little out of date now, but will catch up.
