Prisoner support list November 2010

Bristol ABC | 08.11.2010 01:27 | Repression | Social Struggles | World

Bristol ABC's monthly updated list of UK and international political & radicalised prisoners who welcome support.

November's list has been updated with corrections, additions, additional links for more info, and a few prisoners got released!

Please forwards the list around your campaigns & friends, or why not abuse the printer at work and run off copies for your fellow workers? Remember they are inside for us and we are outside for them.

Coming up in Bristol, Wednesday 10 November - prisoner support letter writing night, at Kebele social centre, 14 Robertson Rd, Bristol BS5. From 7pm. Details  http://bristol.indymedia.org/article/697390

Also available, 'The Prison Works', a cracking little pamphlet by CAPS and Brighton ABC that blows away the myths that prisons are in any way useful, and prison labour is anything but slavery. Info here  http://bristolabc.wordpress.com/2010/11/06/the-prison-works/

Plus we are still distroing the 2011 Certain Days Freedom for Political Prisoners Calendar. Details here  http://bristolabc.wordpress.com/calendar/

Solidarity!

Solidarity needed with Belarus, Social movements attacked

09.11.2010 01:34

100s of comrades in Belarus have been taken in for interrogation some every 3 days and 13 have been detained with some “isolated” since September in connection with a Molotov attack on the Russian embassy.

Unfortunately I'm a UK based activist and don't read Russian but there is a fair amount of detail in English on the Belarus indymedia site. If people could translate....

I have met Belarus comrades they are brave people who need our support. they have to struggle in Europe's “last dictatorship”. When the wall came down the place stayed state communist.

I have found some prisoner details that ill post to ABC.

The details I read came first from a English speaking comrade on tour with a zine, if they're reading this could they try to keep us informed. (maybe post on UK IMC or contact a UK based ABC group)

On his release from prison after being locked up for 25 years for a murder he did not commit,Robert Brown said,"theres loads more like me in prison who are innocent".Robert was the victim of corruption by members of Greater Manchester Police most notably DCI Butler, who personally beat a confession out of Robert.

Yeah other people need help and support as well. Many of us are involved in different political campaign groups etc. and hear about or know people arrested for ELF, ALF, etc. actions. Therefore we know who they are, their families, etc. and can get that info out to people to support them. If you want to make a list of people who claim they're innocent but who aren't political, please go ahead. We can only support the people we know about and we're doing our best.
