Oxfordians protest against Trident

In May 2005, a Trident Ploughshares Affinity Group called The Tamarians occupied Drakes Island for six days and put up enormous ban the bomb banners overlooking Plymouth Sound.

Sarah Lasenby from Oxford a long time member of Trident Ploughshares, was at that event over five years ago. She has just got back from acting as a supporter at the big blockade of Devonport dockyard to demand the end of Trident proclaiming the only CUT we need is Trident.

At the recent protest, banners were again hung on the naval buildings on Drakes Island and before dawn on 1st November five lock-ons, including a group from Switzerland, got into place [despite this being an announced action]. 12 people were arrested. Around 100 others showed many banners at other gates and gave support. Good news coverage locally but little nationally.
