Don't rip of the movement!
It's sad news to hear that the Sidworth street squat, once home to the Urban Haphazard takeoverand many good benefit gigs, has gone to pot. Two weeks ago it was the venue for a massive trance party where people were charged £20 entrance and tens of thousands of pounds were made.Yet people who worked all week with hazardous sound-proofing materials for organisers (who wanted to pay themselves thousands) have not been paid.Organisers also refused point blank to give anything to Thessilonikia prisoners which has upset many people as they attended thinking it was a benefit.
Now teh building is being held down by a handful of people intent on making as much cash as possible for themselves. When behind bars rang up asking to do a benefit for the Thesslionikia prisoners, they were told by one occupant, Martin, who claims to be in charge that: "It was their own fault, they asked for it, and should claim legal aid"
Bags of rubbish, raw sewerage and greed are now the the trademark of the pl;ace.
