Activists in London yesterday held a mobile demonstration against the fur trade.

Activists in London yesterday held a mobile demonstration against the fur trade.

First of all we visited BIANCA FURS (29 Kendal Street, London, W2 2AW // Tel: 020 7262 8730), one of the last remaining furriers in London. The two owners quickly scurried into the back of the shop, attempting to hide from the sickening trade they are involved in. Chanting activists lined the outside of the store and informed the neighbours of the company in their area. Despite it being a busy saturday, Bianca Furs did not have a single customer.

Next we moved onto 282 (282 Portobello Road, Notting Hill, London, W10 5TE // Tel: 0208 962 5625) who are a furriers that have never been demo'd before. The owner immediately begun pushing activists and threatening violence, however campaigners refused to be intimidated and continued the noisy protest. Lots of support was received from passing members of the public.

Following this demo we moved back to Bianca Furs, however they had closed two hours early, so headed on to BEYOND RETRO (58-59 Great Marlborough Street, London, W1F 7JY // 020 7434 1406). Loud chanting informed the public about the company's involvement in the fur trade and most customers immediately left the store. Passers by also gave lots of support and it appears that pressure is mounting from the protests.

We will continue regular actions against the fur trade in London, so contact us to get involved.
