Football violence, old and new

The old hands of football violence at clubs like Millwall are breeding a new generation of lout, as offensive and as stupid as themselves - but now they have the internet to organise their violence.

Football violence has been around for decades, with many unsavoury louts who have never been apprehended for long careers of sickening crime. A new generation of football louts is coming of age, with a vengeance, as football violence and banning orders triples. One signal feature of the new football violence is anonymous bulletin boards and online chat forums where the old and new exchange boastful anecdotes, and where violent altercations are pre-planned.

These bulletin boards and forums are a real threat to the sport, a threat to the public and an opportunity in crime detection. They are also a cesspit of racism, homophobia, misogynistic humour and pornography - and, like graffiti, the cyber-detritus of such sites is an indicator and propellant of real crime.

For instance, on "Millwall L.L.G" (Lovely Lovely Geezer, apparently) a "realbushwhacker" exchanges the following anecdote ( http://members.boardhost.com/Mozzer/msg/1287095063.html):

He later confirms "Was class lags the mic was just sitting there i picked it up and turned it on and its worked i could not beleive it mate it went round the whole ####ing ground i gave it a milllllllllllllllllllllll then cunted my pals who were gutted then ####ed off when the dj started to point at us and 5 old came running up to the seats" while other members compliment him with "ha ha", "quality" and "classic".

In other words, the young members are amused and impressed by a racially motivated assault and arson attack.
