EDL in Leicester tomorrow -- More details

The EDL are planning to stir-up hatred in Leicester. They claim that they have "pull[ed] all police liaison", "remove[d] all stewarding" and "will still march in one way or another".

The fact of the matter is they have not "pulled" police liason at all, and below you will find some more details about the plans that they have made with the police for the day. The EDL "demonstration", and the UAF counter-demo, will be held on 'Humberstone Gate East' in the city centre.

They will be coralled in a bar(s) on 'Hotel Street' (most likely the 'Goose'), before being led by the police across the city centre to the main demo location. Being led from Hotel Street to Humberstone Gate East will give them the propaganda of having "marched" in Leicester, although this should at least keep them away from small Asian businesses and keep them on CCTV for the day.

In a tantrum announced on their forum early this morning, communicated via YouTube, they are now claiming that they will be splitting their divisions and sending some of them to Nuneaton and Coventry. How true this is remains to be seen, and is more likely a ploy to distract police and anti-fascists from their primary plan to "march" in Leicester.

Many EDL will also be arriving into Leiester independently. Following on from the clowns' original claims that they wouldn't be co-operating with the police, there have also been suggestions that many will not be carrying flags or wearing their tatty merchandise, in the hope of having the chance to stir up trouble unoticed.

It would be wise to also be aware that there will be many local youth who have little experience of political demos and are only protecting their city, so wearing some form of green ribbon, (the colour being promoted by Hope Not Hate for the 'One Leicester' events), might help diffuse any misunderstandings.

Stay alert and don't be provoked, but make sure YOU are there to make sure the racist EDL aren't able to cause the trouble they're desperate to provoke!
