The English Defence League [EDL] are going to be protesting tomorrow Saturday 2nd October 2010 outside Kentucky Fried Chicken [KFC]. They are protesting because KFC serve Halal meat. THe protest will be at KFC Haslingden Road Blackburn Lancashire.

This article is complete rubbish. The author even admits that he knows the C18 guy has been disassociated by the EDL.

And quite frankly whilst I'm not a upporter of the EDL, niether am I a supporter of KFC, who refuse to even sign up to minimal standards of animal welfare that even McDonalds have managed to do.

If the author is this person XXX as suggested or whoever it is, stop posting embarrassing articles on Indymedia, we don't need to give the EDL any more ammunition than they already have.

Seems like we're caught between a rock and hard place in this issue, because whilst I don't like the neanderthals of the EDL I detest fucking islam as well.

So, how do we protest the cowering of our society to muslim threats of violence against cartoonists, artists, writers, newspapers, filmmakers and so on?

And you orthodox lefties who think this is an old fashioned support of oppressed immigrants against fascism really ought to keep up cos the fascism is now being expressed by muslim immigrants- with little girls being sent off to have their genitals mutilated, men and girls forced into arranged marriages, gay boys and girls being honour killed if they refuse to accept the marriage partners arranged by their parents, buddhist centres being attacked nightly like the one in Bethnal Green by muslim gangs, increasing demands for separate areas for men and women in our society.

I could go on listing the horrors- but it seems to me that you lefties are saying white fascism is bad (which it is) but brown fascism good and wonderful and multi-cultural and must be supported!

I wouldn't say I detest Islam, I detest ASPECTS of Islam (as described by the person above) but I also detest ASPECTS of Christianity - Vatican cover-ups of pandemic child-rape, Vatican collusion with Nazi war criminals, millions dying unnecessarily in Africa owing to Vatican lies about contraception and HIV, and (before you think I'm being sectarian) hundreds of years of colonial brutality justified in the name of English Protestantism, right up to modern Nazis like the KKK and US and South African race-hate groups who try to justify their madness in the name of Protestantism

I don't think it is correct to call "in hoc signo vinces" a neo-Nazi slogan. Literally it means "with this as your standard you shall have victory" or "in this sign you will conquer", and has been used by dozens of organisations of all political persuasions and none.

The origins are supposedly from Constantine I, who was the first Christian Roman Emperor, so it probably does has Christian connotations, which is probably why the EDL like it.

I didn't call "In Hoc Signo Vinces" a Nazi slogan, but the EDL do use the same slogan that's also used by American Nazi Party, the EDL use a shield graphic that's also used by the KKK, the EDL was co-founded by current and former BNP members, EDL supporters posted graphics on Facebook celebrating the NF, KKK, Blood & Honour, Combat 18 and the KKK, the EDL Welsh Division is run by proven Combat 18 activists, EDL Facebook postings include relentless streams of often violently racist drivel, and dozens of EDL supporters have been photographed giving Nazi salutes

Can i just say, speaking from personal knowledge.. Garry short is neither a racist or a Nazi.. The photo you have here, is clearly a fancy dress costume wich was, by the way taken 7 years ago, long before the EDL was ever founded!! Can i also add, the Queens own grandson also 'dressed up;' in a FANCY DRESS COSTUME of the same nature for a party aswell, & i dont recall him being in your pictures labled as a racist nazi!! Given the fact that Garry short also has a son of mixed race, i fail to see how you can label him a racist!! Given the fact that in this post, you have openly labeld him as a racist, this does have a direct effect on his personal life & family.. we will not have innocent peoples lives affected by your misguided slander!
